 Bundelkhand (known as Jajak Bhakti or Jejaka Bhakti until the 16th century (in the reign of the Chandelas)) is a geographical region in central India.  The region is now divided between the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, with a large part located in the north.

 The major cities are Jhansi, Datia, Lalitpur, Sagar, Damoh, Orai, Panna, Mahoba, Banda Narsinghpur and Chhatarpur.  However, the cities of Gwalior, Jabalpur and even Bhopal are also under the cultural influence of Bundelkhand, especially locally.  However, the most famous place in Bundelkhand is Khajuraho, which has several temples dating back to the 10th century, dedicated to the exquisite life and sensuality.  The emerald mines have been famous for brilliant diamonds;  And a huge one excavated from the last was kept in the fort of Kalinjar.
